MSN-36S Shinigami (Sinanju Stein variant)

Finally done! I give to you, my entry for this year's GBWC, The MSN-36S Shinigami. With this kit, I went back to basics. Thing I hate most was scribing panel lines. But with this kit, I really forced myself to do it. I felt I needed to get out of my comfort zone if not I never be able to move forward.

Since the Unicorn Gundam was based on the Sinanju Stein, I decided to give it a psycoframe which looks similar to the Unicorn Gundam. But of course, nothing as complex as the Unicorn Gundam

Always thought the regular Stein gun wasn't very sexy and since I have 2 rezel cannons to spare, put them together, you have yourself a ready made BFG. It still looks kinda skinny so I decided to use the stein beam rifle as well to make this a thicker feel.





Base looks familiar? Its actually inspired by Toymakers ground work! Since the Shinigami is already full on psycoframed... why not psycoframe the base too! Special thanks to Waylander on giving tips on how to achieve that rocky type surface effect! If you don't already know, these 2 guys are super talented modelers based in Singapore. If you don't already know them, do watch their space! You will definitely learn a thing or two. 

A Dendrobium was killed in the process. Mechanical chain bases were already going out of style.

And it is done. I've really learnt a lot from this project. And from here on out it is only going to get tougher. Again, just wanna give thanks to my family and friends for all the support and patience! You know who you are! Without you guys I would definitely not have been able to finish this one. it was a really fun and good learning experience!

MG G Bouncer (Age-1 Spallow Conversion)

Got a bit of spare time so decided to take some pictures of my G Bouncer after so long... After seeing last year's GBWC entries, I was so inspired to jump back into the Gundam bandwagon. This one a very fun build as I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to try out a few new things like adding plaplates and working with epoxy putty. Also decided to try scribing some simple panel lines. Mostly just simple but fun modifications. Anyway, here are some pics of the finished product. I give u, the G Bouncer custom.

History

When the first Sinanju Stein was stolen by Full Frontal and the remnants of Neo Zeon, it was later revealed that there was a second unit hidden away some place safe. Rumors said that past suitable test pilots who have taken the second unit out for trial runs either went insane, screaming and shouting about something evil and demonic about the MS while others went into a coma or died of shock from the MS' g-force. It was a lost cause so the Stein was later decommissioned and sent into cold storage.

Elyn Hobby 1/100 Kshatriya first look (Unboxing)

The long awaited 1/100 Kshatriya in plastic form by Elyn Hobby is finally here.

Unfortunately, as excited as I am for this baby, I will have to put this aside and work on my GBWC entry and the upcoming Jesta group build organized by Poison Monkeys. Anyway here are some pictures of what's inside this gigantic box.

 Check out the details of this wing binder. Just apply some panel lining on this guy and see the magic happen. There are some mold lines but just have to sand down a bit and it will be good to go.

The main inner frame comes prebuilt. 

As you can see, all beautiful things come at great cost. Just from the amount of parts, it is going to scare almost anybody off. But once assembled, you will end up with a really impressive model. I'm not too sure if Bandai will ever release a 1/100 or even an MG version of the Kshatriya. But even if they did, it won't be anything like this one. Quickly order yours before it's out of production!

Can't wait to get down to this monster! Till then, back to GBWC!

Pre GBWC 2013

2012 was definitely a very good year for most gunpla modelers in Singapore. We had the mid year competition, a gunpla expo, a few group builds here and there and also, who can forget the biggest event of the year, GBWC.

If you missed out on GBWC 2012 Singapore last year, you can check out Toymaker and Waylander's blogs to knock your socks off lol! Just from Singapore alone, we could already see many world class entries, not to mention those monster entries.

Coming into 2013, it seems like Singapore has gone into a slump. Our mid year competition was overlooked and only after many months of MIA, Bandai has finally announced the dates for this year's GBWC only last week. And already most of us are having mixed feelings about the dateline being so early this year. We only have about 70+ days left to prepare for it.

So what do I hope to achieve for this year's GBWC? Well, after being in this hobby for so many years, I feel like my skills have reached a plateau and has been stagnant for a very long time. I have always been more of the "safe" modeler. Happy just being in my own comfort zone and never trying new things. Its high time I leveled up and do something different.

Just wanna give a shoutout to my friends who have motivated and guided me through this process and also for showing me the doorway to reaching the next level. You know who you are.

Anyway enough said. Need to stop procrastinating and time to catch fire.
